One Thing To Do Today For A More Fertile New Year

Welp, the holidays are pretty much over, and it's now officially resolution season.

I'm lukewarm on resolutions. It's easy to overdo it, underdo it, and the fact of the matter is that most of them just don't stick. If I had a dime for every time I've heard someone say "I'm never drinking again!" on New Year's Day, well, let's just say I'd be one rich lady. Or what about "I'm going to gym every single day this year!", or "No more sugar for me!", or even "This is definitely the year we're gonna get healthy and have a baby!".

Sound familiar? I love the intention behind resolutions, but the reality just hardly ever works out.

If you made a resolution to live healthier this year, I wholeheartedly wish you nothing but success. But that wish is gonna come with a little advice: Take it slow, and take small steps.

KEY INSIGHT

Behavioral science has shown us again and again that people who make lifestyle changes by implementing small, simple daily habits are much more successful than those who make big changes all at once.

Behavioral science has shown us again and again that people that make lifestyle changes by implementing small, simple daily habits are much more successful than those that make big changes all at once. This is the approach we use at Conceivable — we help women find the smallest, simplest changes they can make to improve fertility, and then help build healthy habits to slowly and permanently change their fertility and their lives.

In the title of this post I promised you one thing you could do to set a strong foundation for a healthy, fertile new year, so let's get down to it. No matter what your resolutions are, start with a dry January.

If you've never heard of a dry January, it's pretty simple: just abstain from drinking alcohol for a month. In a pilot study published by New Scientist, the authors found that giving up alcohol for just a month made a pretty significant impact for study participants.

1 Month

All it takes for measurable improvements in weight, sleep, cholesterol, blood glucose, and liver fat — according to a New Scientist pilot study

In just a month, participants lost weight, improved sleep quality, increased concentration, reduced cholesterol, lowered blood glucose levels, and decreased liver fat. All in just one month!

📊 WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS

A pilot study published by New Scientist found that just 31 days of alcohol abstinence led to weight loss, improved sleep quality, better concentration, reduced cholesterol, lower blood glucose levels, and decreased liver fat — all markers that directly influence reproductive hormone balance and fertility outcomes.

When we read that at Conceivable we were blown away — what a perfect recipe for a fertility friendly foundation for a new year. Improved sleep can decrease stress and normalize reproductive hormone levels. Decreasing liver fat can protect liver function, leading to better hormone metabolization and function and a decrease in stress hormones. Lowering weight and blood glucose can help regulate ovulation, especially for women that struggle with PCOS.

"Improved sleep can decrease stress and normalize reproductive hormone levels. Decreasing liver fat can protect liver function, leading to better hormone metabolization — and all it takes is one month."

It's all so easy, and all it takes is one month.

⚠️ IMPORTANT

Giving up drinking for a month isn't a fertility cure-all. It's a powerful foundation, but optimizing fertility usually requires a more complete picture of your hormone health, cycle patterns, and nutritional status. Small steps work best when they're the right steps for your body specifically.

Of course giving up drinking for a month isn't a fertility cure-all, but it is a great way to start out the new year on the right foot. Sign up below for more amazing fertility boosting hints and tips, and, above all, have a fantastic, fertile New Year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Dry January good for fertility specifically?

Alcohol affects fertility in several interconnected ways. Even moderate drinking can disrupt reproductive hormone levels, impair liver function (which is critical for metabolizing hormones), elevate blood glucose, and interfere with sleep quality. A month off alcohol addresses all of these at once — making it one of the highest-leverage single changes you can make at the start of the year.

Does alcohol affect fertility even if I only drink occasionally?

Research suggests that even light to moderate drinking can have measurable effects on hormone balance and ovulation. While occasional drinking is less impactful than heavy consumption, giving your body a complete reset — even for just a month — allows your liver and hormonal systems to recalibrate, which can make a real difference when you're actively trying to conceive.

What other small habits can support fertility alongside Dry January?

Sleep, stress management, blood sugar balance, and targeted nutritional support all work together. Dry January naturally improves several of these at once. From there, building on that foundation with personalized supplements — matched to your specific cycle and health signals — is one of the most effective next steps you can take.

How does the Conceivable system actually work?

Conceivable combines three things: personalized supplement packs built from your quiz results and health data, an AI care team of 7 specialists (led by Kai, your fertility coordinator) who adjust your protocol as your body changes, and the Halo Ring for continuous biometric tracking. The system is built on 240,000+ clinical data points and 20 years of practice. It starts at $15/month.

How do I know which supplements I actually need?

Take the free 2-minute Conceivable quiz. It analyzes your cycle patterns, energy, stress, digestion, and health history to identify the specific nutrients your body needs — not a generic prenatal, but a protocol built for exactly where you are right now.

Do I need the Halo Ring to use Conceivable?

No. The Halo Ring is optional and adds continuous tracking of BBT, HRV, sleep, and blood glucose — which Kai uses to fine-tune your protocol in real time. But the personalized supplement packs and AI care team work without it. The ring is a one-time $250 purchase with no subscription required.
